I found this great looking sherman, and I am looking for some decals for it in 1/35..

It is a M4A1.
It was used in Tunisia in 1943
And its Says Nicht Ausschlachten, Für Okh-Wa.Pru, Erbeutet durch I/Pz.Rgt.5.
In English Don’t cannibalize, for Okh-Wa.Pru, captured by I/Pz.Rgt.5.

Wow - neat pics! I think you'll have to follow the prototype and hand-paint them...

it could be anywhere between a yellow and a white. I would suggest a slight off white, ans judging by the luminosity of the colour in the first picture i would be more inclined to head towards white.

Top picture is probably the earliest of the lot with the camerapeople and the Naziflag. Text is probably just white. The other pictures are white with dust.

Well that's my guess anyway.

Would the Sherman be OD green?

I don't see any reason to think it would not be OD.

Where can I get them cross or do I have paint them?
What is that white mark left mantlet?
Would the writing be on the other side of it?
Would this model work?

Hi!
I did a further search for you in www, these three pictures are presented in a few articles/threads in discussion groups in different countries/languages. Although, there are a lot more pictures of Shermans and other types of tanks captures by Germans and marked with the cross. On these pictures is seen that the cross is presented on all sides where the star was before. If you consider the meaning of the words, do not cannibalize, reserved for OKH WA Prü (which is a test facility), imagine, if you write it in that size of letters on one side that would be sufficient. You do see this practice also in modern warfare, remember iraki vehicles adressed in this manner to units or facilities in the US or UK for evaluation or as a trophy. So I would guess it is written on this one side only. If you are interested in more captured Sherman pictures do a google search and type in "Sherman nicht ausschlachten für OkH Wa" or "Sherman Beutepanzer" and some pages with more of such pictures come up. Maybe one of these Shermans is the one from the pictures you mentioned here.

Hope that helps

I'd guess the tank was OD with tan camo, judging by the first photo. (Look at the side, near the front, and it appears to have two different tones under the writing.) The turret has a painted-out star that is still just about visible. I'm not sure what colour paint they used to cover the star - presumably whatever flavour of desert yellow or even olive green the Germans had to hand?

The writing itself is probably white.

It would do nicely! There are lots of extras in the box, but I think all you need is included.
