This was posted in the General forum but I suspect it will be totally missed there. Cast-Off models, who have been inactive for a number of years are back up and running again and have just released an up-armored Scimitar LEP conversion for the AFV Club kit, see here:

For anyone who hasn't dealt with Terry before I can confirm his products are first class, as is his service.

Nice to see they're back - I was always kicking myself for not getting a few things I was interested in. Have to get an order in now...let the 2012 modeling budget massacre begin!

Thanks for the good news!!!

I've been waiting for years for such a conversion to be released...

I thought Accurate Armour or Cromwell would have done one by now.

I think I'll get this Castoff item, although I also believe with some PE it would have been even better.

Cheers,

Christophe

I have to declare an interest here and say that Castoff and Terry do a lot (but not all) of the casting for ITA

That being said, thats not why I'm saying this; In my opinion Terry has done these just fine, and entirely accurately from what I have seen, in resin. I helped Castoff with this one a very little bit with photos from the real thing. The screens are possible to do in PE, but in this case I believe PE offers no great advantage due to the actual form of the screens.

The screens themselves appear to be constructed of sheet metal covered in some kind of rubber material, then painted, which makes them acually quite thick in comparison to say; slat armour

(thanks to the Alvis Fighting Vehicle Society for allowing me to crawl all over their Scimitar)

In this case I think they could have been done equally well in PE or resin (as Castoff have made the resin parts very thin). In fact Resin may be better in this case as at least you don't have fiddly small brachet attachments to bend and fit

I have just found out via an email that Terry and I served in the same regiment (The Life Guards) at the same time.

That being said, he had better produce good stuff otherwise he will have to, 'Show behind the Night Guard with model'....

He will know exactly what I mean (a regimental joke).. And I apologise for wandering slightly off topic.

Yes they are. I understand they went of hiatus because the owner decided to focus on other commitments, but are back up and running and producing (very nice) kits.
