Hi guys. I'm finishing my M1A2 SEP model and i want to depict the flat CIP panels on the front of the turret. How would i do this? Really thin plastic card? Any idea on the length and width dimensions? Also, the Velcro corners, are they black or green in color? Thanks!

Hi Dave

Here's a picture that may help with colors :

In 1/35th scale, this panel is 20mm long x 16mm tall.

How do you guys recomend doing the tape on the corners? Just paint it? Also, ive seen it shown a dark green, black, grey and beige. What color do you recomend for the tape? Thanks.

the tape is velcro...
use some .005 evergreen sheet, cut stripes of approx 1.25mm width, 5mm lenth for the horizontal ones and 4mm for the vertical ones. next thin some tamyia putty and stipple that onto the stripes (you can of course cut a long stripe first, do the putty thingy and then cut to pieces..). that'll make for the velcro texture...

Cheers, Max

Dave,
I have used Tamiya masking tape to replicate Velcro before... It looks fine in 1/35th scale for either side of Velcro. You could add the putty as Max said but IMHO it is unnecessary.
