This is the third news item from Trumpeter and we are back to current armoured fighting vehicles. This time around it is the Japanese Ground Self Defence Force Type 96 WAPC "B" in 1/35th scale. Take a look inside for more details.

Thanks Darren,
it looks to be the original kit with a new sprue with the M2 MG cupola parts added.
This is one is the version deployed to Iraq. The first one with the AGL didn't suit this timeframe despite one of the painting scheme Trumpeter suggested.

Anyone know why the vehicle pictured on the box does not have the glass house like the kit builds into?

Is it true the only (major) difference between the "A" and "B" types are whether it has a grenade launcher ("A") or the .50 cal cupola ("B")?

Can a type "B" be build with or without the glass house as pictured on the box. Because the box shows a Type 96 with a .50cal mount, but no glass house.

Well of course. That's the way it always goes. If you want a company to make something new, you just have to scratch build it yourself, then shortly after you've finished it, they'll make it in kit form!
