Besides checking the molding and whether or not they look realistic, wouldn't be worthwhile to determine if they were the right size?

they are true to scale...
the real ones are: 11"x7"x5.5" so that's roughly 7.9 x 3.97 x 5.08mm in 1:35 the PSM boxes are: 7.89 x 4.00 x5.05mm (at least the 50 cals, don't have the measurements for the 30cals handy but they're correct as well...)
