I have been a user of Paasche airbrushes for years. I am thinking about getting an Iwata. If I do purchase one can I use a regular compressor or do they require a product specific one?
Many thanks

I am using the same Aztek compressor with tank that I had for my Aztek, Paasche, and now my Iwata. I could probably use a better regulator, as I have issue with lower air pressures, below 10 psi, but any compressor with a regulator should do.

the only thing you really need to change is the hose - or even just an adapter for the hose

Most fittings are standard now, 1/4", I use the same connection to my compressor for both my Paasche and Iwata. Even the hoses are interchangable.

I'm using a 20+ year old diaphram compressor with my new Iwata. It works great.

As folks said above - any compressor will work - it's just an air-supply device. You could as well use an over-inflated spare tire from your car, or a high-pressure SCUBA tank - all have been used! Whichever way you go, you need a good regulator.
I have several airbrushes, including Badger, Paasche and Iwata types. The way to work with all of these (3 different hose-fittings!) is to fit a quick-connect fitting to the one compressor hose, and fit each AB with the corresponding other fitting end (as quick-connect fittings are typically 1/4 inch - other fitting sizes will need an adapter to mount to the AB). This way, I can easily swap different AB on and off the one hose. So... if you are updating to a newer AB, but still want the older one in play, try this route! Quick-connect fittings are easily procured from airbrush stores and many web-stores - and from HobbyLobby, etc. Thread Adapters to match other fittings are available from online airbrush stores, etc.

DJ;
I too have been using Paasche for years (too many to mention) and have an Iwata knock off from China that I am really enjoying. I have a splitter on the compressor (delta, oilless, mall tank) and have two quick connects for one of the Paasche and the knock off. All I need to do is hook it up and change the pressure. If you continue to enjoy the Iwata and are looking for something else that won't invoke the ire of the big boss, check out ebay Veda is the one that I bought and for $30 I am very please. Good luck. Cheers.

Been there done that!
The current wife, #4, actually asks what I need, and helps me shop online and at my LHS. That's why I'm keeping this one.

DJ,
I don't know if you're still looking for an airbrush but I have an Harder & Steenbeck Infinity, which I really can recommend!
If you haven't decided yet, surely take a look at H&S.
