Hello,
This is my first post here. I normally build military aircraft and civilian airliner and ships. But Armor is my newly auquired interest lately. I am totally into soviet/Russian subjects. I picked up the Frog-3 kit from a local swap meet. Question is should I paint it glossy or flat green?. I cannot tell by the available soviet era black and white pictures. If it is flat , what paint will be good match for the soviet armor green?

Attaching some pics of my T-80 in winter Camo

Hope you all like it.
Thanks and Regards
Vivek

In my opinion, the FROG-3 kit you picked up (the old Glencoe kit) should be colored with gasoline and a match.

That said, flat or semi-gloss is best with Russian tanks. High gloss is pretty much rare if not a outright no-no. Have some fun and paint it semi-gloss green with white parade striping.

Thanks Jacques for your input. What do you mean by parade stripes?

When Soviet/Russian vehicles are on parade, they are painted with white lines around road wheels, along side-skirts etc.
This is BMD is Ukrainian but you get the idea.

Cool. Russian machines are simplistic but still mean looking machines. I find them quite beautiful, T-series with ERA is my thing. What T-80 kit is that? I got a few "old/outdated" kits too. Still fun to build though.

You may be right. I have to go back and check the box. I built it 4 yrs ago so I am not very sure. Sorry
