Hi everyone,

This is gonna be my first complete build log on this forum and I hope you'll like what I post here. Well,in fact one of my previous threads on the same topic was mistakenly removed just a few days ago, causing a little frustration but never mind. Up to now i've made some progress and finished half of my work on the German minesweeper VsKfz 617 which I'd like to show to you folks for your comments. It will help me do better work next time.
The box image looks pretty nice

The plate is looking good too

Work started

takes lots of time to do the track

that's for today, happy modeling.
More to come

Good, clean assembly! You made it look like the kit almost "falls together" by itself: is it really the case? I am asking because I do not see any putty at all inthe pics.

Just curious: how big is the whole model?

Keep it up!

@Nicola: thanks for your comment. I do used cement for the build. The simplicity of this kit makes it look like it falls together on its own. As for how big the model is, i'd say it's as big as your foot!

@Jim: thanks for the incentive..i'm expecting some new releases from Meng Model..don't know what they would surprise us with

Thanks for the WIP thread on this project. Looks like the treads actually articulate?

I built the RPM brand kit of this minenraumer years ago. It has won several awards in contests. The kitis still on the market and not as expensive as this new one.

Great job on it.

The last remaining one is in the Russian museum at Koblinka.

Thank you all for your comments, guys!

Ray, this Meng Model made kit is better than the one you bought from RPM,believe me. Talking about your award-winning minenraumer, curiosity makes me wonder how it would look like...mind sharing some pics of your work of art? I'm ready to learn from you.

Alright guys, now i'm going to show you my painted work with some decals bought separately, not included in this kit.Hope i will not disappoint you too much..hehe...

Fully completed and thanks for viewing my work

I will never understand how you guys manage to complete models in such a short time

Anyway, it turned out OUTSTANDING! Really great job!
You have not disappointed ME, that's for sure.

This is an AWESOME build! I love the subtle weathering on the German gray scheme. The red "3" really pops out at you. Excellent work. I may just have to get this kit!

You've done a great job, Domingo... I love the subtle weathering and paint chipping. Glad to see that MENG is doing a good job on their kits.

I have a quick question.. how did the crew get into this vehicle? I see hatches only on the top.. how did they climb on top of it?

Could you possibly take a picture of it with a figure next to it for comparison?

Cheers

Would be glad to post pictures of my RPM brand minenraumer. Only problem is I don't know how to put pictures on this forum. Guess I am too old and computer stupid...boo hoo.

Ray if you send some photos to my e-mail, I will post them for you.
Lovely build Domingo. It is unusual enough to want to build it, but when one sees how well it goes together and your nice clean build, it makes it very tempting!!

Photographs of Ray Mehlberger´s RPM kit for comparison.

The camo does its job well, but it hides the depth of detail, but it appears the Meng kit has the sharper detail. Ive not built either kit, but Ive heard countless nightmare stories of building the RPM kit. Ive read many modellers have actually binned it, they got so frustrated with it!!

Frank,

I agree that this RPM kit was a pain in the hiney to build. Especially those multipart wheels! I thought a few times about trash canning it, but stuck it out till the bitter end.

It turned out to be good enough to have garnered a 3rd place award at a small IPMS contest. So, work was not in vain.

I would like the better Meng kit, but the price breaks my wallet.

Thanks for posting these shots of it for me Frank.

Regards,

Ray

Hisham, you raised an interesting question... Frankly I don't know the answer but I guess the crew can climb up the vehicle with the assistance of each other. They may aslo climb onto the track or the armor plates on the sides of the vechile hull by themselves. It's possible with that height.

To make a comparison, which was put forward by Hisham,I took a few pics of the minenraumer with an unpainted figure(a tanker of T72) next to it. See the pics

climbing aboard the mineraumer was partially done with those 2 foot step plates mounted above the towing rings. I had to add these built from scrap PE fret material as they were not included in the kit, but very visable in the pictures of the one that is that Soviet tank museum.

Thanks for the info, guys.

And thanks, Domingo, for taking the time to take that pic for size reference.
