Some sad news arrived today reporting the passing of Horst Kalinke at 11.00pm on Thursday 12th January 2012.
Horst first came to light in the modelling world as the proprietor of CMSC (Continental Model Supply Company)importing 1/87th scale models by RoCo Minitanks, Roskopf and Trident. Later he wanted to fill the gaps in the available market and started casting his own resin models of Modern British vehicles. He soon gained a reputation for the high quality of his casting and began contract casting for others.
Horst was often to be seen at model shows, on his own stand and later wandering around the halls, or stood outside with his habitual roll up. His dry wit and knowledge was freely given, and he made many friends across the hobby.
It is his skill, humour and most of all his friendship that will be missed by so many of us.
