Hey guys.

I was wondering if I can get some advice here, whilst still in the planning stages of my latest build.

I recently purchased Tamiya's M1025 Humvee (2003 edition) and Trumpeter's 101st Airborne Division Crew in Iraq. What I would like to build will represent a Humvee from the 1st ID, along with dismounted crew, at a checkpoint.

I just need some questions answered:

1.) When the 1st ID deployed to Iraq in late '03, would they have brought over Humvees that were still painted in NATO camo?

2.) Is it possible that 1st ID Humvees would still have the KFOR markings on them?

3) Would the standard M1025 (without any 'hillbilly armor' kit) have been deployed and in use? Also, would CIP's have been fitted that late after the invasion?

I would appreciate any help here.

Keigan Hart,
I went to Iraq with the 1st INF DIV and I hope I can answer a few of the questions.

1. I went to Iraq in February (Tikrit) of 2004 with the 1st ID and all of our vehicle were in the NATO colors.I did see some sand colores vehicle but those were the ones that the 4th ID left in country.
2.)I did see a few with KFOR markings but most of the vehicles did not have them. My Bradley had KFOR marking but in Kuwait We painted (OD spray paint) the markings
over.
3) I did not see any Hillbilly armor on the vehicls in the first few months in Iraq, It was added latter by some unit. We did use sandbags and wood frames on the push up.

I hope this helps
Grant
