I've just finished my interpretation of a KV-1 Tow Tractor, based on a Trumpeter hull from which I somehow lost the turret.
The design in based on the PST 1/72 kit plus some photos kindly posted here by Minsk94
Figures are by Zvezda, Tamiya and a 'giant' from ICM
The base is made using plaster filler as earth, and grass mat from Reality In Scale, plus 2 dead plants made from straw
I hope you like it as i'm please with how it turned out

Hi Anthony,
very nice looks great how did you find the trumpter kit went together as I have a couple to make, I was discussing this can't use that make with this debate with couple of guys in my model club & as I suffer from arse to close to ground syndrome & pointed out the varying heights shapes of people in real life I can't see why you shouldn't use mixtures of figures just as you have done.
Cheers Mike

Hi,
The trumpeter kits go together very well,
You get a choice of rubber band or link and length tracks which is nice.
The MG barrels (if you choose notn to replace them with metal), and hooks to hang the tow cables on are fragile so don't fit them till the end or they will break!.
The trickiest bit is fitting the running boards/mudguards over the tracks as the fit is pretty tight and takes a bit of fiddling so do several dry fits.
The weakest part of the kit is the mesh cover over the engine air vents which are solid blobs (I've left them off this model, but PE would make this part look better).
Hope you enjoy them, I've got an Ekranami in progress too, as well as a KV-2 still sealed for later

As to mixing figures, it really depends on what they are carrying..
Weapons etc are a standard size so mixing infantry is tricky as all the packs, rifles etc need to be the same
but if you don't have to worry about this problem (eg for tank crew) I thinks it looks can look good
