Ok, totally stupid question, but consider the source (me), all clad paints are they acrylic or enamel. What to thin with and are they good for hand brush work? I have no clue about these, but have seen mention of them before here and just saw them on a trip to Seattle at an LHS there. So, anyone with experience with these willing to help a brother out? Cheers.

Alclad paints are lacquer. They are to be airbrushed and will not work properly if hand brushed on.
A gloss base coat needs to be laid down underneath them using either enamel or lacquer paint. That paint is usually black but could be any color depending on which color Alclad you are using and the effect you might want. (I usually use Tamiya spray lacquer gloss black under chrome and aluminum.) Follow the direction on the bottle.
Note that I have never used their primer or undercoatings. I've heard they can be problematic. However, the Alclad metallizer paints themselves are fantastic when properly applied.
