Hi,
Can anyone tell me what version of the M109 the Royal Artillery were using in the '90's and which kit would make the most faithfull reproduction of this vehicle. Also, are there any decals available to depict 57 Bhurtpore Battery during Operation Granby for this vehicle?
Many thanks

My B-I-L was on Resupply to his Bty (in Fodens' possibly DROPS) His Bty were M109A2's.
Italeri do an A2 boxing, which is ok, with a bit of work & new tracks, pops up on e-bay now & then,
There is a new mfr KINETIC announcing an A2, but box-shots only so far.
RIICH MODELS announced an A6, but box-shots only so far. Their offerings seem .... similar to Kinetics, but the more the merrier!
I don't know of specific decal sets for your Bty, but you can use one from e.g., here
(assuming non-commercial (fair-use) for your own consumption, & not for monetary gain or re-sale)
Resize to suit & print on decal paper.

News on Perth Modelling site today, AFV Club is intending to release Kit No AF35109-M109 Howitzer soon. So from having one manufacturer in Italeri producing a couple of variants for this vehicle we will now have 4 others, possibly 5,I believe Revell may well sell this model although it may be the Italeri version re-boxed.

Yes, the Brits used M109A2s during Op Granby (1st Gulf War, Op Desert Storm, '90-'91). Italeri's M109A2 is a decent kit to start with. It did have some british mods, to include swapping out the track for Deihl tracks. Revell reboxed the M109A2 as a German version with the Deihl tracks. Also, Fruil has just announced a future release of the M109 Deihl tracks as well.
Yes, more M109 options will be most welcomed. The Revell ones are just reboxed Italeri kit, with a few pieces added for the German version and different decals. The Revell M109A6 Paladin also has the option of mounting a Mk 19, as opposed to the .50 cal MG, up top too.

Thanks for all the replies (and the great photo). That gives me more than enough to go on. My yuunger brother is the current BSM for 57 Battery and he has a photo of him and his troop (the right word?)in front of a pair of M109's during Operation Granby. As they have only recently returned from deployment in Afghanistan I thought I would make him a scale model in celebration. I coud have asked him but I did'nt want to tip him off.
