I'm going to build this model in Afganistant painting. The kit isin't perfect enough (in my opinion) so I've decided to upgrade it a little bit. First of I'll buy new wheels from DJ'Productions. PE parts? hard to say at the moment which ones should I choose. Can anyone help me by recommending some useful stuff for this model? For examlpe the MG 12,7 mm looks horrible in my opinion. Is there a good replacement for it?

The Revell is an A0, The Afgan Deployment is fielding the A1 version, there has been some recent walkabouts on the interweb.
The Revell kit is too new to have aftermarket, but no doubt there will be soon
The available PE & resin is based on the existing kit of err... the prototype....

Hi Robert,
Djiti`s wheels are a good choise, but so far no other AM stuff is out, thats made for the Revell kit. But I read in the new Revell catalog that they plan to relaese their own PE. Maybe you could check Revell homepage for further details. I my opinion, the worst part fo the kit is the FLW 200. I improved mine from scratch. Some said that Revell has to work lazy there otherwise they would have breached some OPSEC rules. Speaking of OPSEC, a friend told me that severals parts of the vehicle classified secret, not to compromise the safety of the personal in AFG. But the main problem on a Boxer A1 from AFG is they they are still do modifications on the vehicle in AFG. You might check Youtube for 2 videos on the Boxer. As for the .50 cal. I replaced mine with a spare gun from AFV Club, but I had to add the handle for the QCB. For detailed pics of the FLW 200 you can check http://www.panzer-modell.de. And according to a rumor a photo CD-ROM of the Boxer is in the making.

Hi Robert,
basically you can say that the German GTK Boxer A1 used in Afghanistan feature the raised FLW 200 weapon station as well as a mine protection. The Bundeswehr sent 5 vehicles to Afghanistan in July 2011 and another 20 right now.
Currently I work with a well-known company to release a GTK Boxer in Detail DVD soon. This will include the A0 and A1 model of the armoured personnel carrier version.
The Revell FLW 200 is pretty basic but I know that an AM company currently works on a resin upgrade kit. The suspension on the other hand looks alright.
So I can just give you the recommendation to wait a few days. In the meanwhile please dont hesitate to visit my website www.tank-masters.de
Cheers,
Ralph

Anyway I'm searching for a metal replacement of the MG. Is there anything available?

Hello,
The Revell model does represent the A1 version that is deployed in Afghanistan. Any minor differences that can be seen in some pictures are tweaks that have been performed in the field. Such as the position of the towing cable and the addition of jerrycan racks to the rear.
I would at least recommend to replace the hideous Revell towing cable.
If you read through this post:
https://armorama.kitmaker.net/forums/186483&ord=&page=1
you will also find some suggestions for aftermarket parts, such as wheels. I am working on a rear ramp aftermarket set but that is not entirely finished yet.
By the way, the Afghanistan colours in the Revell kit are correct but the next batch of vehicles will have different colours.
Cheers,
Erik

At the moment I plan to buy:
- copper cable
- wheels from DJjproruction
From the link given by Erik Keizer I see, that this MG should be a good replacement: http://www.martola.com.pl/pl2039/produkty26824/12_7mm__0_5___Browning_M2
Am I right?

The .50 update set looks fine, I have bought the same one for my next Boxer. Check the .50 in the kit though, mine had a huge sink hole in the main body. You might want to look for one from another kit or even a resin one.

Nice! The FüFz (Führungsfahrzeug, command post) version in the new desert colours.
