I have always used a BB in my paint for mixing....However, I noticed some of my MM Acryl paints, the bb's stuck to the bottom and rusted. Does this cause a problem?, Do u use them as well?

I use stainless steel shot. I was able to get some bulk from an ammunition maker here in Edmonton. I have not noticed any rust, nor have I had any problems using them. I usually add three or four to a jar to aid in mixing.

I tried that method but found that I got better mixed paint if I just used a popsicle stick.

I use lead pellets -- no rust with those. Others I know use copper-coated BBs with no problems.

I use a cheap ($7.00) battery operated paint stir gadget.... works wonders, even on thicker lumpy paint! Avaialble at HobbyTools.com

I've never thought of doing that. I think I'll have to break open my old bb gun and give it a whirl!

Jeeeeeez, I feel ancient or something.......when I brush paint something and need the paint stirred, I just simply use the end of the brush handle..................fancy that!

I also have a BB in my paint bottles. I still use the old stir stick after I shake the bottle and before I paint.

I've used my dremel with a drill bit, works well particularly for metalic colors but you have to be careful not to go through the bottom (did that once, made quite a mess.

I use a cocktail stick to mix the paint dirt cheap and you can use them ofr other modelling applictaions like applying super glue on PE parts and stuff,or the cheapo way to make a paint mixer is to cut off a piece of spure with a right angle on it stick it in the dermel/multi-tool and away you go instant paint mixer :-)
