Stumbled upon this while laboriously working my way through Google for references to scratchbuild my own and stumbled upon this gorgeous scratchbuild which I had to share.

There is also a build log Here:
http://karopka.ru/forum/forum188/topic8516/Which I think I'll be using as a nice how-to for my own, unless Commander's beat me to it with a resin kit.

That is beautiful!
What I'd absolutely love is to see the IS tank that has three tracks and looks like a flying saucer! (I forget the name of it but I saw it in my Osprey book on the IS tanks.)

As someone who has long wanted a 1/35 IS-4 in his collection, this model has my modeling brain discombobulated. On the one hand, it is a great step by step walkthough to make my own. On the other hand, I suspect my attempt will suffer in comparison so I'm warring between being inspired and discouraged!

You know, I saw that but the conversion part had me wondering. Outside of the main cannon, MG, and roadwheel arms there's almost no part commonality. Mind you, even if it's only the turret and upper hull that are accurate, that's still a huge saving of effort.

Oh, I'll take a stab at it eventually. I have found that it is hard to scratchbuild, at least for me, unless I can have a few uninterrupted hours in a row. With a 10 and 5 year old, i find those times few and far between!

Thank you for posting them in the first place. It's a beautifully done model of a beautiful tank. I wish more people posted these types of photo features as they make a marvelous tutorial on scratchbuilding. Heaven help you though, we'll probably start begging for you to sell copies of the running gear and tracks!

Unfortunately now the forms is not preserved. Perhaps my colleague kept the forms for tracks. I will contact them and tell you the result.
I advise you to build a model using the lower part of the body from Tamiya IS-3. The main wheels are ideally suited. The drive wheels must be finalized. You need to make an additional 2 pairs of main wheels, 2 balancer and 2 jacks, to build the lower part of the IS-4.
I've used the IS-3 chassis from another manufacturer with the wrong size wheels, so I had to pour a copy.

What about Miniarm? How good is their stuff?
And Modelkasten makes all sorts of tracks.

Miniarm is great but they don't cover the IS-4, which had it's own unique tracks and such. There is supposed to be a 1/35 resin IS-4 out soon but since it's listed as a IS-3 conversion (and there is actually little part commonality) I suspect it will simply plop on a Tamiya IS-3 chassis. We'll see, I suppose.

Navigator did a resin/white metal IS-4....and it is best not to look for it. (I have one....it is for experts only....really)
Commanders Models will be doing one soon...but only after their T-10 is finished up.

Yeah, I was desperately searching for one until, I actually saw one! I would have had to scratchbuild so much of it what was left-over just wasn't worth the price tag. I'm hoping Commander's does one although they haven't explicitly said that they will, despite much innuendo, unless I missed something.
Hopefully the DEF one will be good as well. The small JPEG on their site does look promising.

I like the stuff Commanders is doing, but at the same time it kinda sucks buying a kit and waiting a couple months to get the directions and PE for it
I got the T23 back at AMPS East last fall and still don't have the directions or PE...finally got the directions/PE for the M7 light/Medium tank a couple weeks ago
