there seem to be a lot of people making after market tracks.i was wondering who makes the best

Scott--for my two cents worth of input, DML/Dragon track supplied in the kit works for me. I hate doing it, but you can not argue the results. I put AFV T-16 track on my Tamiya M-8 HMC and love it. Expensive at $16 a box, tedious to construct, but once again rewarding. Other folks (with more money that I) bought the $20-$25 a set Fujimodel (I think that's the right spelling) tracks. I saw it at my favorite model store. Looks great, but should I risk the "Wrath of the Wife" by spending her beer money on more models? A question I ponder daily.....

There is really a matter of taste. The Fruilmodel (Hope again I spelt it right ) tracks are metal, so should give a natural sag. For some people whom are skilled at working with metals, they are great (I am not the some people ). And Modelkasten are of plastic, so I find it's easier for me to work with. It takes me maybe 3 to 4 days to finish a set of tracks, they also looked quite good to me. My 2 HK cents

Friulmodel and Modelkasten both make really nice sets of after-market tracks. If you are building an American WWII to Korea era tank, RHPS makes nice tracks. Armored Track Models makes excellent tracks out of plastic just like Modelkasten's. Finally, I've never used them personally, but I've heard good things about Accurate Armor's resin Traxpax sets.

I also agree with DJ ( 210cav ), and I am quite
satisfied with Dragons single link tracks, but when
it comes to my 1st choice - it's Fruil all the way !
I'm assembling a set now for my Academy M18.
As they are white metal, I think their the closet brand of
tracks on the market that compare to the real thing. The cost of $24 a set
doesn't bother me. You get what you pay for and the Fruil quality
is absolutely worth it. The finished look is awesome !
Remember this is only opinion, because there are other brands
on the market, that you might like better.

Hong Kong Creation workshop (HKCW) makes some really nice modern track. I guess it depends on what era you are interested in.

One warning for anyone looking for aftermarket tracks for an M-26. I bought the AFV tracks and found them to be very nicely detailed. The only problem is, they are also incredibly easy to break while assembling. I ended up breaking probably close to twenty track shoes and barely had enough to finish both tracks!!!

Yep that's right, Especially while doing the wash. I had an horrible experience while wash them with turpetine, then it somehow loose up the glues, and it's absolutely no fun to see the modelkasten that you had been worked on for 3 days fell to pieces. So now I use acrylic thinned/water thinned paints to wash the tracks.

Friulmodel and Model Kasten Tracks are my favorite. I prefer Model Kasten workable track links over their non workable ones. I will rarely use Vinyl tracks. FruilModel Tracks are great because they are made from metal, so you get a realy great natural sag. You can also weather Fruil Tracks using Railroad weathering solution. :-) :-)

Sorry Treadhead, Friulmodel doesn't make tracks for the T-38. Modelkasten used to but they are long OOP. I got lucky and found some not too long ago, but I bought up the last sets they had. Just keep your eyes open on the web and in stores and maybe ask people in forums if they have a set that they would like to part with. I already used mine so I can't give them to you.

LF Fort also makes a set of tracks that are labeled as "T-37/T-38/Panzer I", but they are not correct. They are better than what comes with the AER kit though so you might want to look into them. The are non-workable link-to-link plastic tracks that are a bit time consuming to work with, but they go together well. The problem with them is that they are Panzer I tracks which are not exactly the same as T-37 and T-38 tracks. They have the same shape, but are a bit too wide. If you are interested in them you cn purchase tehm from NKR models in Australia for $5 Australian.
