I am in the market for another airbrush. I work on 1/35 WWII AFV's and plan on getting into 1/16 figures as well as 1/9 busts for a little variation. I already own an Iwata Kustom CS and an Iwata Hi-Line HP-CH. I need to buy a new airbrush for detail work...I am deciding between either an Iwata Kustom CM or the Iwata Micron CM-C Plus. As you can see, price is not a factor for me but I was wondering if anyone knows the difference between the two. Any other airbrush recommendations?

What are you trying to do that those 2 brushes cannot do?
"Detail work" is more a function of the right combination of paint, air pressure, distance, and precision fingers than the airbrush.

i would say they are basically the same airbrush as far as hobby purposes are concerned.
Also keep in mind what kind of paints you use. too fine a head becomes a problem with most types of hobby paints - 0.23mm nozzles are getting pretty small for most enamel paints (be they oil or acrylic based). I kind that anything smaller than a 0.3mm head is just frustrating because they clog so often unless you are using really high grade paints with fine pigments and slower drying times.
with acrylic enamels, I can do much better fine detail work with my 0.3mm head iwata airbrush than the 0.2mm head (iwata HP) one because the latter just gives endless problems (clogs, spatters, etc). the latter shoots watercolors and gouache paints great tho...

I will admit, I don't NEED another airbrush...I'm the modeling equivilent of the guy who has to have all the new Ipad's, Iphones, and any other cool new gadgets which they don't really need in the first place lol...my Kustom CS is .35 and my hp-ch is .30 and the airbrushes i am looking at are .23 with the option of getting down even smaller to .18 which i doubt I'd ever use ...I know that the finer heads clog easier and all that but i have heard great things about some modelers adding small amounts of Liquitex Slo-Dri and/or Liquitex Flow-aid to their paint when using such small nozzles and have no troubles...ive never tried this myself with a .23 nozzle but I have to say I haven't clogged up any of my airbrushes since i've been mixing the afformentioned "paint cocktail"...i'm just wondering if anyone knows the difference between the 2 iwata models i mentioned...the only difference i have yet to find between the two is the Kustom CM has a larger paint cup but that's it for a 75$ difference

Have you considered the Harder & Steenbeck Infinity?
.15mm needle (smaller than the Iwata Micron), will do everything the Micron will do for less cash.

I was recently bought a Iwata with a 2mm tip and have had issues with paint splatter when using MM enamels. My advice would be to buy a Badger 150. The full kit comes with three head assemblies and three needles for fine, medium and heavy use. It is not gravity fed, but I have only had good results. I would suggest lowering your air pressure for detail work.
