Frenchy? You there?

I'm looking to adapt the Verlinden Panther engine compartment (intended for the Tamiya kit) to a DML Panther G, and I need some photos showing the engine deck hatch lifted and the inside of the interior to place the details, including how much clearance from the top of the motor to the top of the engine deck.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

Thanks, Frenchy, you da man!

It looks like the engine comes pretty much up to the deck underpart. Do you have a photo with the hatch open in the field or factory?

Hi, Bill
Maybe this will help too. Also have blueprints of HL230 with all dimensions, if you need it.

Alex;
Those dimensioned diagrams; are they the French ones? With external dimensions for the attachments only? If they're German, I'd be very interested to see them.

p.s. that overall plan, the first one in your message, has to be a modern artist's work, not a German original. It puts the air cleaners precisely in the center; but really they were offset.

Thanks, Alex, those are very helpful. The Verlinden engine has very thick walls, so I'll need to thin them.

Yes, David, you are right. I was talking about the French blueprints.
I believe that the first schematics are from the Trojka's book, so it is not surprising that they are off

You are welcome, Bill! I noticed myself that Verlinden PH and resin sets have scale problem. It feels like they are all over-sized. Closer to 32 than to 35. (Maybe his calculator is broken?)

The air blowers in the set are actually under-scale, but I'm going to use the kits ones and move them to the Panther A I'm building where they will be hidden by the grating.

Damned IPMS rules with the judges shining flashlights down into any open holes to see what's in 'em.

But look at the positive side - since they cannot judge the categories with their own models, they usually know nothing about historical accuracy of the models they judge.

That's funny.

I think it's wrong to mark someone down for not having an interior under the grates. It requires either an expensive additional outlay, or scratchbuilding. The model should be judged on what you can see with the naked eye, not with a flashlight.
