Anyone any idea how to replicate missing stars as affixed to the pilotka sidecap ?
I have tried cutting from paper but they are just too small to replicate with any degree of accuracy. I know Eduard do two sets of Russian insignia but there are no stars in either set. Does anyone know of a source of stars (etch ?) suitable for a 35th scale head ? Like this.

You can buy clear and white decal paper. There are two types. One is for a laser printer and the other for a inkjet printer. You can puchase the sheets individually or as part of a set.

Andy- you must be going all out in terms of detail- you got a dio planned?
If it was me I'd try and sculpt it.
I thought Alliance Modelworks did some Russian 1/35 isignia but I was mistaken. Maybe they will in the future?

Thanks guys, I'll check out those recommendations. Since found out that Tank model make 35th scale Russian decal sets but apparently they are out of production.
Maybe
If by chance I were, it might or might not include this

I know TANK model do head sets that have the Pilotka stars moulded on.
Soviet Divisional Artillery dio, thats pretty cool- I guess there's a fair bit of work in that box though, four horses and plenty of figures plus the guns!

Thanks for the info Karl, I am using the Hornet heads but obviously there are only five with Pilotka's and I need seven. May have a go at sculpting some on some of their bald heads.
P.S. - Gun and limber built ready for paint and horses replaced with ICM ones (which are all different). Currently cracking on with the figures. Will post some pics when it is all ready for paint.
Cat out of the bag now !

IIRC, Verlinden once produced a PE set with US Army / USMC belts, straps and commissioned officer insignia. I think there might have been some general officer collar / shoulder board stars on it.
I do know that IPMS USA had a special figure PE set done for the 1988 (?) IPMS National Convention in Dayton, OH that also contained US Army / USMC officer insignia including general officer stars. There was a Scale Master decal set that went with that.
I don't know of any more contemporary PE sets, but I would think that there must be some out there. There might not be any Soviet figure PE out there, but US G.O. stars should be about the right size if you can find some.

Mike/Matthew, thanks for the additional info. I will certainly see if I can find one of those sets.
