Hello, I live in Australia and am planning a diorama featuring a jadgpanzer 4 in hungary 1945. My question is this, in that part of the world did they have cobbled or brick paved roads in country areas or only in towns and cities. A link to photos on the net would help if possible.
many thanks, Paul

As you are waiting for an answer i would say (waiting for an Hungarian board member to contradict me) that cobbles or brick street are only found in cities. As for cobbles (you mean roundish stones i think) or brick, i would choose the brick pattern.
That is my unproofed guess, Google images are not really helpful to find anything.

I suggest you get you hands on a panzerwreck book, don't remeber the number, but it has a lot of pics from forces surrendering in that area, rich towns ans cities had some main streets paved it seems, but most likely in rural area's it would have been your hard sand, grid like roads, unlike in W europe where they use a lot of cobble stones, or as we call'm childern's heads (beats me where they got that from )
some searching on YT for images might reveal some details

I did a web search for cobblestone road and came up with some nice photos. Many of the stone roads in Europe were Roman and many are in the country but as was already said mostly in Western Europe.

G'day,
Funny that you asked this question cause I asked the very same question a little while back.
Check out this thread cause the blokes from Europe were very helpful in answering.
