Hi,

I'm in the process of modelling a M 60A3 ( Tamiya ) in 3-tone Nato-color and i would like to know how the unit markings from some National Guards units are displayed.
I would like to make either 1-221 AR ( Nevada NG ) or 1-635 AR ( Kansas NG )
Are the markings on the left front just 1-221 AR or 1-635AR ?
Or are there also some markings that refer to the State National Guard f.i KSARNG ?

Hope someone the answer !!

army national guard markings are the same as the active duty army for example the unit you want to use
1-221 armored
the markings would look like this 1-221A
but you need to replace the A with a silid black triangle

Hi Nick,

I appreciate your anwser, but the question was : are the any addional markings in FRONT of the unit marking ?
For instance: 35I 1-635AR or KSARNG 1-635AR ?

It's possible that the NV or KS ARNG added state designations with the unit markings.

This is a picture of an old South Carolina ARNG M60 and you can barely see the "SCNG-1A263" on the left side of the hull.

I will go get pictures of the rear hull and any other locations that have SCNG specific markings, since this vehicle is only about 150 yards from my desk.

I'm sorry that I can't give you an answer for NV or KS, but they are too far away from SC.

Here are some better pics of the same M60:

The front appears to have "SC NG-1A263" on the left and can't tell the bumper number on the right (of course the "A" is actually a solid triangle).

The codes on the rear have both been painted over, but you can barely see "SC NG" on the left cover plate and the "1A263" should have been below it. The right plate appears to have a bumper code of "B-4" or "D-4" on it, but it's real faint.

I hope this helps. Unless someone provides different info, I don't think you would be off base to put "KSNG" or "NVNG" in front of the unit codes on your M60.

A guy named Gary Owsley, used to be a member here, actually crewed the M60A3's in the unit of the KSARNG.

He posted here about the bumper numbers on their tanks.

Additionally, I'm active duty in the Missouri Army National Guard and assigned to an Infantry Battalion.

Here is how we mark our vehicles.

If we were going to include the state designation it would be MOARNG. Similarly, Kansas would be KSARNG.
