Our server will shortly get a memory boost. We are pushing the envelope with 1GB of RAM so using some of our newly acquired funds (thank you Armorama Guard members!) we should soon be picking up a bit more speed. An additional 512MB of RAM cost us a $185 one time charge. Well worth it I think but only time will tell.
I also made a small change today that I am hoping will help some of our users with access issues. Again, time will tell to see if this helps.
Thank you!
Jim

Ever heard about the PowerMac G5? get their top-of-the-line model w/c has dual 2 GHz proccessors w/ 8 GB of RAM. Now that's overkill! Maube not if you use it as a server.

I'm sure the G5's would be excellent web servers. But most of the G4 web hosting would cost about twice what we are paying now so I can only imagine a G5 would be astronomical. That's kind of the thing about Apple. It should be better for what they cost.

Do you mean Zippy the Pinhead?
Eeeek!!! I know where you know him from...
Good news on the RAM. Jim, what the system's max RAM capacity?

Ken,
Probably something like 8GB max. Don't worry before we ever went that far I would go with a web cluster.
Cheers,
Jim

Hi Jim
Nice one! I really pleased the extra revenue is allowing you to add upgrades and improvements behind the scenes. :-)
Everything seems speedy enough on my home setup, but when I tried to log on at work the other day on both a new PC and Mac, everything was so slow as to be unbearable. Both machines are faster than my PC at home, so is there a reason why they could be so slow on the Internet?
I know it's hardly your problem... but I'm keen to understand more about that side of things. :-)
All the best
Rowan
