Any major corrections to be made on the Italeri sherman? Not the M4-a1. Also is it possible to leave off the snorkels and build it with a new set of decals and any other modifications to make a european theater shermie?

Thanks!

I assume that you are referring to the USMC version with side boards and vents? If so, why do you want to chop all that unique add-on off? Why not just get a Tamiya Sherman Early production?

Out of box, omitting the wading trunks, wooden armor and not replacing the molded on engine deck with the M4A2 one, the kit builds into an M4A3 75mm tank. Same base kit as the Sherman Calliope that was issued around 1996 (less the rocket launcher of course).

Yes thats exactly what I was talking about,I do however want to use these parts on al ater sherman...BUT for some odd reason of another universe I don't feel like building the marine version. I might use these parts on a tank I'll ask for for christmas, possibly the DML sherman. And the reason I bought this kit was because it happened to be on sale (I think) and was 11.99! The tamiya one,at my hobby shop and everywhere else was about 35-40.00 USD!! And the Tamiya one,IMO is of lesser quality

Dave:

Sabot is dead-on target with his answer.

In some ways, it's a better M4A3 than the Tamiya kit (no sponsons to fill, for one, plus detail on both sides of the road wheels), but it does have a few things that can be tweaked. The exhausts are molded as part of the rear hull plate (they are seperate on Tamiya's), the weld seams on the hull are recessed (as are Tamiya's), no bulge in the right turret (again, like Tamiya), etc. Some also say the area around the front hull hatches is not as correct as Tamiya, but I can't see a problem.

All that said, I think I like the Italeri kit better than the Tamiya for ease of build, and ease of fixing. I just like Italeri's plastic for working, I guess.
