Looking to build my first dio, based on a scene I saw while in Iraq

I am curious if some railroad scenery ballast would be good for re-creating the rock gravel common on US bases and staging areas

Plan is to have a M1151 with Crows and Spark Mine roller parked next to Hi-Lux loaded full of gear to be transfered to the waiting humvee

Yes, railroad ballast looks perfect as gravel in 1/35.
