Panda and Kinetic both make this vehicle in 1/35, whose kit is the better of the two?
Thanks

Most people have been leaning towards the Kinetic kit. It is thought to be more builder friendly and has details that the Panda kit does not if I understand correctly.

Mike, we'll have 2 reviews of the Kinetic (one very soon and another to follow so I'll be interested in reading both) and then one of the Panda...hopefully with the 3 reviews we'll have a pretty good idea on these kits.

Hi all,

It depends on what u mean by better. If u want something that is more friendly in terms of the build, than kinetic is the way to go. But if u want something that is more accurate and detail, u might want to consider panda. But bear in mind, panda's instruction sheet is quite badly done. U will need to refer to pics to sometimes get something installed. I know because I have just finished one for a local shop to display. It is not painted as I wanted the modellers to see that it is buildable and I had only used abit of putty. There were modellers who were so harsh on the kit, saying that it's not buildable at all and they had almost wanted to throw it away. Well, I built one and I am very happy with it. Though i had some problems along the way but I solved it and enjoyed every minute of the process. I would recommend the panda kit if u are after an accurate kit but prepared to work harder. I have the kinetic kit also but I find the details on the soft side. The dimensions looks wrong as mentioned in other threads. It is said to be more buildable but I have not build one yet and I doubt I will as I find the detail and accuracy to be problem that I cannot accept. I hope I have not caused anyone any discomfort by my forthcoming comments. I apologise if I have. I always believe this saying that we share among local modellers here ......"there's no bad models, just bad modellers."

I don't know.

I just know that wheels are bigger on the kinetic kit and Kinetic kit is more expensive than Panda Hobby kit.

And kinetic and Panda hobby released the same version of the M-ATV.

I've just received (thanks Armorama) a review sample of the Kinetic M-ATV kit which I shall be reviewing shortly and doing an OOTB build log of, so watch this space.

I'm just in the process of gathering an adequate amount of research material to give the kit a thorough going over.

I have both kits and I have to say that it is not as bad as some people say. Here are some pics of a built up one

Each kit caters to a certain type of modeller.. so, I guess it comes down to how much a little more, or less detail means to you.

I agree with some of the others that they are for different levels of builders. Both will build into a vehicle that represents an M-ATV pretty well.

To me, the added details and accuracy, plus the lower price, of the Panda kit wins out against the Kinetic kit. I don't mind a little extra work going into it and I will add more to it to make it more accurate. I almost never build out of the box anyways, so that isn't an issue for me.

I would have to go with the Panda kit. I just started mine this weekend, it's a bear to build, no 2 parts will fit without some work and tons of flash. But after each build session I am very happy with what comes out at the end. Lots of very fine detail and be ready for lots of "fun" PE work One trick I learned with this kit was to shave off most of the locating pins on each part, it helps greatly. I have not seen the Kinetic kit in person, but from the pics I've seen the Panda kit has better detail.

I would have to agree after looking at these pictures here: http://www.themodellingnews.com/2011/10/panda-hobbys-panda-hobby-135-oshkosh.html

I think this and the Buffalo are two must haves, this coming from someone who has NO modern armor either!

Wow, those pics are actually better than the kit instructions. I'll use them to help with my build. The kits instructions are just chock full of errors.
