Hey Dan

To answer one of your questions, USMC units that took part in the Fallujah battles (2004-05) were mainly equiped with the M16A4 (also have seen some A2's). Alot of M249 SAW's and M240G's. Certain individuals might have M4's though (eg Medics).

Unlike the US Army, it seems that the M16A4 is the most common weapon in an infantry unit.

I was in Fallujah with a Marine infantry unit and was at Camp Fallujah pretty regularly. We had M16A4's in the unit, anyone armed with a pistol was also issued an M4 with an RCO, there were also Benelli shotguns in the unit. Feel free to ask any questions you might have, I'll do my best to answer them for you.

I was in Fallujah in early 2006, we wore desert digital MARPAT cammies, with coyote OTVs. We did not have MRAPs at the time, the HMMWVs that 2/6 left us were 1114s. Like I said, if you have any questions ask away, I'll be happy to answer them if I can.
