Hello All
My current project is Dragons T26E3 while i was painting over a base coat of tamiya
XF 65 with a slightly lighter shade of the the same paint, it would not stick in some
areas of the road wheels. My brushes were clean as was the model surface, I
washed it with a solution of dawn and water. Since this occurrance I have re cleaned
everything shaken and stirred the paint , still this continues. Any ideas anyone?
Thanks in advance.

Hi ponysoldier,
Just to confirm things... are you air-brushing or hand painting?
You're saying the first coat of XF 65 went on fine, but the second, paler coat won't stick? That sounds a bit odd...
What did you mix with the XF 65 to make the lighter tone? What are you using to thin the paint?
I expect someone will have an answer to your problem. :-)
All the best
Rowan

No clue ponysoldier! The only one thing I can say is that the old Tamiya's paints were excellent for hand brushing too, sinche they changed the formula a few years ago, I never managed to paint something by hand with them...

I use tamiya paints A LOT. Have to admit - I have run into this sort of thing with various colors, seems that some are worse than others
I have resolved myself to Airbrushing almost everything.with Tamiya paints.
Sorry I can't offer anything more than reassuance that you're not crazy.

The problem isn't the paint...it's the thinner you're using......rubbing alcohol strips Tamiya paint off in an instant.....now...if you were airbrushing it on....no worries....but because you're brushing it on.....it's stripping itself off as you brush.
Start over again and just use water to thin it.....if you want to you can use distilled but I have only ever used just plain tap water.
