I was recently at our local Toy shop who stock Tamiya and Humbrol model paints and saw a bottle of Tamiya Acrylic Paint retarder. Now this stuff is suppose to stop the paint drying so fast which is a problem here in the heat of Queensland so I was wondering if anyone had tried this and what they thought of it before I try some myself.
I am moving away from the smelly enamels and thinners and back to acrylics and as the Tamiya brand is available locally in case I need some urgently I have decided to go with them for most of my painting.
Cheers
Cliff

Cliff
I found some of this in my LHS a couple of weeks ago and bought it on spec.
I haven't tried any big paint jobs yet - just a little brush test and certainly seemed to make a difference with brushing - but care is still needed. I have found over the years between Mackay in the tropics and now here on the Gold Coast that on humid days I do better brush painting Tamiya acrylics anyway.
If this rain ever stops I will give it a shot with the airbrush and see if it helps reduce the pebbly finishes so easily achieved on a hot day.
Brian
PS - with luck I might be able to post some pics of a soon to be finished surgical truck started a number of years ago.
