I have stumbled across a new company that some of you may have heard of in the past, but with their wide range of vehicle products, I thought it worth introducing this company to the Armorama community.

These kits are excellent and well worth the money, especially for the odd subjects that you won't find anywhere else.

Hi Kevin,
I have their Morris CS8 Radio truck to build at some point. They do some unusual subjects.

I bought the Leyland Hippo truck at Telford but found that the tires were lacking tread. After an initial e-mail they agreed the fault and when a new molding was complete sent me a new set. No fuss, no arguement just good customer service.

Not really new to me as I know the company for quite a lot of years and have bought some kits from them. But I want to add that it is a bit of a hit and miss when it comes to detail. Some kits are nice but still need a lot of work when it comes to details and other kits are downright basic and way too expensive.
When I have my eye set on one of their offers I usually wait till I find one at an event and look inside the box to see if it is worth the bother parting with my money for it. (usually it isn't despite the unique subjects)

For those interested in 1/72 products, this website if usually very useful:
On The Way! However their reviews/previews for Wespe products is very limited for the time being.
I Like the softskins such as REO's, Diamond T's, Internationals, and Scammels. The kits I have seen or purchased so far regarding these subjects have been quite nice and would benefit from some slight modifications such as metal rod for mirrors, rigging for tow booms, etc. Armored subjects and German softskins may be a different story, but I would much prefer these kits over other limited run companies such as ACE which often have unpredictable fit problems that affect the overall build of the kit. That said I do research anything that I intend to buy, and I try to wait for the best price possible.

I've got several of their kits including the Vomag. They can be a bit light and simplified on detail but the moulding overall is good quality and they make a good base for doing you're own detailing.

I agree a bit hit and miss detail wise but they can show a lot of other manufactures a thing or two about customer service they rock and I have no problems dealing with them

Excellent casting quality - a great starting point for building some rather unusual models!

I bought their Meillerwagen last year, but now I have Takom's kit so I don't know if I will build it now.

I have this Vomag kit...and it is a bit weak in some areas of detail, but still worth the purchase. Not that I won't build it mind you, but rather over time I'll be gathering aftermarket goodies to help improve it. New wheel/tire combos, the best 88 to put on the deck, etc.

You are a bit late. There are already four reviews of Wespe Models products here on Armorama, dating back to 2010. So they are neither new nor really need an introduction, although a refresher doesn't hurt I guess...

Does anyone know if their Mack NO is any good?

My opinion: The Wespe Mack NO model seems a bit oddly proportioned. Vehicle looks too lite weight, wheels too small and underbody mechanical detail just big cubes of resin.
Same comments on the Azimut offering though some years back Alex Hill did a full on update/correction to the model kit that looked fantastic!

Tat, I just thought I would bump this thread and give Wespe a little more exposure. I am building one of their kits right now and they do offer a unique selection of "out of the mainstream", very interesting resin vehicles available nowhere else in the hobby.

VC-1 Pre-war Dodge 4x4 Command Car offered by Wespe.Designed in 38-39, the only year of production was 1940, supplanted in 41 by the 1/2 ton WC series. The GREAT-GREAT-GRANDDADDY to all the WC's and the Dodge Power Wagon!

Beautifully proportioned model, molding is crisp and very well cast. As many have already indicated, the model is somewhat lacking in underbody detail but I am currently in the process of giving it the "Koenig" chassis treatment. Would love to find replacement wheels and tires for the car though the Wespe offering DOES include raised sidewall lettering, however as you can see on the spare tire - somewhat incorrect omni-directional tread pattern and very low relief, giving the appearance of a very well worn tire!

This kit caught my eye on eBay a few years back mainly because I am fortunate that one of probably only two completely restored VC-1's in the world lives only about 2 miles from my home!

No worries Mike, my response was for the one preceding it. I see it has been a while since news was featured on Wespe Models, so its good you've brought this one up -- a reminder to watch our for future news material. Cheers, Tat
