Hi all,

You may know me, or have seen my work over on the Modern Armour forum. I have been building a HET and an MRAP, but have held those builds witing for some AM bits to be manufactured.

In the meantime, I thought I'd do a build of my Maz 543 which has been in my Stash for over 10 years. It's the old Shanghai Dragon kit, which has brittle hard plastic, which I find very difficult to work with. I got stuck in, and began to modify the kit substantially, but decided that the unworkable plastic was fighting me all the way...so I bought another one.

Here's the old kit, thrown together if I'm honest, nearing completion, with only a couple of mods, such as the shape of the rear arches on the control module and the gap between the radiator module and the control module filled in with card. Everything is just placed in position in the pics, so ignore the out of alignment parts please.

this kit has fought me all the way, but I wanted to build it as a reference piece for all the errors in this kit, there are a lot of em!!!

Here's a little taster of what is to follow with some serious plastic surgery going on!!

I will start a new thread for the modified kit, and continue with a couple more posts on the OOB kit. I can't decide what schemes to do the kits in?? I'm not sure what colours will do all the extra work justice? Sand or green are my only two options I guess??

Thanks for looking

Nice work on a impressive kit.

Not sure if it is exactly the same version but here's a few painting options:
Afghan Army

or

Libya

This is some interesting stuff. Personally, I'd go for that Libyan stripe pattern.

Hi,

Just asking for this kit,
The windows are given in clear transparent plastic card,
Do u install in during initial construction or install it after painting and weathering.
I tend to build up and close the individual cabin during initial construction and was not confident if is it easy to install the windows after the cabins are build.

Yeah, I've got that old kit in my stash too...for when I've got nothing else to build.

I'm digging the Libyan pattern too! Take a lot of silly putty for all that masking!
