Based on the figures you are using, they would be in desert MARPAT with either Woodland or Cayote Brown IBA vests.

During the initial stages of OIF (spring-summer '03), both Desert MARPAT and 3-color DCUs were seen.

The MOLLE bags would be in Woodland MARPAT or Woodland BDU pattern.

Hereis a great Desert MARPAT painting tutorial and one on Woodland BDU and 3-color DCUs by Pete Becera.

I tell you what I think.

You could paint your Legend Productions figures in "MarPat" camouflage because their uniforms are closer to the MCCUU than to the BDU.

Unlike the uniform of Trumpeter figure which is closer to the BDU so you could paint it in "3 colors desert"camouflage with the body armor in "Woodland" camouflage.

Yeah, that is what I said too.

Those MOLLE II rucks would not be in MARPAT or coyote. I'm not even sure if the USMC used them for very long to be honest. That ruck is only used by the Army now. The Marines have their own style ruck. Your only option for those would be woodland. Here is how you paint them, standard woodland camp for the pack, semi gloss to glossy black frame, green straps and MOLLE webbing. Google MOLLE II ruck woodland for pictures.

The assault packs, you'd be safe in MARPAT, or Coyote. I think you would be better off doing them in straight coyote though.

Yes, the Woodland camo in the second link for the vests and MOLLE gear.

No. There are commercial assualt packs (think combat backpack) with MOLLE loops in sand, but no issue MOLLE bags in sand.

US Govt/Military issue MOLLE rucks and assualt packs are in either ACU for the Army, or Desert/Woodland MARPAT or Cayote Brown for the USMC.

No need to apologize.

For those interested, the Coyote color is also appropriate for SF body armor and gear, since theirs is based off the USMC gear. Get those Legend figures and have at it.

hey guys, one more question
all the straps on the bags, they need to be painted green right? So no camo on them?

Boris
