I have a question about the colour of lend lease softskin vehicals supplied to the soviets in WWII
I'm in the process of building a BM-13N Katyusha based on the US6 Studebaker.
Now I know that the soviets tended not to bother repainting tanks, so they would be in Olive Drab.
Is this the same for the softskins ?
although with all the rebulding of the rear to fit the rocket frame maybe a respray would have occured, leaving the cab in OD
The second question is were the suspension componants painted in OD or in Black ?
I've seen both in restored/museum examples but does anybody know for certain?
thanks
Anthony

Yes, also the softskin vehicles (as for exemple the Willys) were delivered to the Russian army painted in OD and Russian didn't use to repaint them .
As far as I know,Russian army didn't receive any stock of original US paint, so when they had to repair and repaint their L&L vehicles, they were likely to use the 4bo green. However, in spite of the common opinion, Russian green was actually quite close to the olive drab. It was lighter than the US color but the shade was almost the same. A worn olive drab could look the same as the 4bo green so the difference between a new and a repainted vehicle could be not so noticeable
