Hi all,
maybe a little off-topic, but I found two pics of a 4-wheel drive military vehicle (Jeep) made by Rolls Royce in the early 1950`s and field tested in the Korean War. A quick Googlesearch proved nothing essential. Anyone has more information?
Hans-Hermann
P.S. I found the pics on the Australian War Memorial site.

Are you thinking of the Austin Champ by chance?
The Austin Champ, FV1801A 1/4 Ton GS was a high tech 4x4 design produced in very large numbers for the British Army during the 1950's. With independent suspension, Rolls-Royce engine and many advanced design features including hi-tech electrical system and pre-designed wading features.
The Champ served with the British Army in the UK, Africa, Germany, Cyprus, Libya and the Suez Campaign, and early vehicles were sent for troop trials at the end of the Korean War...
Keith.

FYI, Accurate Armour has a nice 1/35 resin model kit of the Champ available too.

I have one sitting in my stash.
I rode around in one as a junior soldier (Junior Leaders Regiment RAC. Bovington) in mid 1964. Really nice but very small and cramped.

Thanks for the plug Nige...I was just about to feed that in but you beat me to it
I'm sort of surprised Hermann did`nt recognise it as a Champ considering how many went to Germany....then again maybe not his region or time frame.
Best regs.
