Is the tan-painted armor on the chassis around the bottom of the doors just more hill-billy armor or is it ASK or some sort of kit? I am converting a tamiya kit to this version. Thanks

It is not "hill-billy armor" at all. It is actually all a factory kit(s). The lower portion is standard ASK plates and the doors and rear upper panels are a kit first used by the USMC known as Explosive Resistant Coating (ERC).

Great, thanks Gino. Academy has a square plate over the vent on the passenger side. I guess that threw me. EDIT- that and I don't know much about Humvees!

The armored vent cover is part of the ASK. The one I showed a pic of does not have the ASK, only the ERC.
