Just guessing here.. primer colour if the zimm was applied before painting the tank.
If the zimm was applied after painting the tank it would probably be dark yellow or any other camo colour.
Red oxyde primer would be my first choice...

Yeah that's the interesting part was it applied in the factory or in the field? This project is on the long finger for me so no decisions need to be made yet

by the B&W photos I would say it was a factory made zimm, it looks like a quite dark colour sp I would bet dark red oxyde/rusted primer
