Hi there
I am considering to build a M4A1 from the 751st Tank Battalion at Mt Valbura, Italy 14 April 1945.
You can see a picture of this tank "Comic" on page 68 in Concords US Tank Battles in North Africa and Italy 43-45.
I am planning to use Tascas M4A1 (mid production)35-010 as base kit. I got the decals from ARMO 35438. But now here's my questions.
How can I tell if this very vehicle has the early 3-piece differential cover or the rounded type or the sharp-nose one piece type ?
And would it be equipped with a M34 or a M34A1 gun mounts and mantlet

Regards

Another question is. Did it have the appliqué plate on the turret ? or cast in, thickened cheek or none at all ?

Any chance you could scan & post a picture? The nose was a "replaceable" part, the armour was added as an upgrade, and the gun shield changed during production, so the only way to be sure is to see them in a picture. That's the fun of Shermans!

Wow! That pic was deliberately taken from the only angle that hides all the tell-tale features!

Here's a link that has a pic of another tank from the same battalion, but this is "A4". It has the M34 mantlet and 3-piece tranny, so this combo was definitely still around at the time!
