Hi guys,
I want to show you my latest completed build. It will depict a T-72 of the Khamis Brigade somewhere in Lybia 2011. I used Tamiyas T-72 and Verlindens upper hull and turret. The barrel and antenna is from RB while the open turret-stowage bins came from CMK. Pe are various bits from Eduard and/or Verlinden. The flip-out-panels or "gill-armor" on the side is scratch build and moveable. It is not fixed yet and may look strange in the position right now. I hope you like what you see, any comments welcome.
Best regards,
Andreas

Obviously you recently got some hard work time Andreas and the result is very fine.
You should take care of the towing cable, it looks tool ong and a bit bent at the edge of the glacis.

Hi,
I really like what I see. Your t-72 looks good so far. But I'm not sure if the t-72m was used with the libyan army. On photos I saw only the very early variant with the optical rangefinder and the t-72m1 variant with the additional armor. But maybe you are better informed them me. Again it looks very good.

Thanks for the input guys, Olivier, your probably right, I will check the cable again. Jochen, thank you too, I have to check my HD, but I was sure I saw one of these. Have to doublecheck again. :-)
All the best,
Andreas

Looking awesome Andreas! The scratch built gill armour is superb.
I've got a similar project planned myself. Although I had to admit i've never seen a Libyan t-72 with this early M turret, most seem to be the very early Ural turret or later A turrets. I wouldn't worry though, you never know what Gaddafi had hidden away.

Looking good so far Andreas- the additions to the Tamiya base kit are nicely done and this is a very topical and interesting subject. Good luck with it!

Hello again, guys.
Thank you so much for your positive feedback, I really appreciate that each of you takes his time to comment on my progress. I will definitely keep you updated ones the painting starts. Still not sure how to paint (camo or not...) and when to start :-)

Hi Andreas,
Great looking model !
Could you give us some details about gill armour ?
I have hard times to find good pics of the mounting details and the inside of the "plates".
TIA

I've got a picture showing at least some of the details of the T72 gills obtained from
Vladimir Yakubov at www.thetankmaster.com
as I can't find it again on the site I can't give a link (there are a couple of others too so it's worth searching) I'll post the one I have temporarily for discussion purposes only
I'll remove it again in a few days so make use of it while it's there

A real beauty, Adreas. The gill-armor is awesome! And, scratchbuilt to be moveable. Very comendable.
