Hello
I would like to make a M1083 with M198 in OIF. Can I add something extra to this track ( I think about ring with M2 or Hillbilly armour)?
Thank You for help
Chris

I've discovered a few Armorama truisms. The first is that many posts (esp. involving modern vehicle models or helicopters) will soon be followed by an incredibly informative post by HeavyArty detailing exactly how the model in question differs from reality and how to fix it. The second is that Frenchy will very quickly be on the scene with pictures that he obviously keeps on a computer storage system rivalling that used by, say, Wikipedia.

Well, true to form, here I am....
No idea how the Trumpeter model will do vs. reality though since it isn't out yet.
As shown above, M1083s were used with hillbilly armor and ring mounts. You can also use either of the "coming soon" Trumpeter armored cabs with them as well.
Trumpeter's versions.
Armored M1078
Armored M1083
The angular, "Dragon Wagon" armored cab is more common though. It would be easy to swap one out from teh armored M1078 kit...when it finally comes out....
I hope the Trumpeter M1083 comes out soon. I have an M198 waiting for it as well.

...Crew Protection Kit made by EASI (and a gun ring too)...
Just a note on the manufacturer, the company was Radian, Inc., which is where the name of the kit, RACK (Radian Armor Crew Kit), comes from. At least as of 2004, Engineered Support Systems, Inc (ESSI; the holding company for Engineered Air Systems, Inc. or EASI) was still selling these under the Radian name.
The other kit is Stewart and Stevenson's Low Signature Armored Cab (LSAC). Stewart and Stevenson was bought out by BAE, and was merged with other BAE elements to form Global Tactical Systems, a BAE subsidiary. The LSAC also formed the basis for BAE's current Long Term Armor Strategy (LTAS) A-kit/B-kit arrangement.

Hello Chris,
On unarmored LMTV, there is a first generation of weapon mount, like this:
There is a kit of this type of weapon mount from "Pro Art Models"

Nice pics. That third one was from TF 1-103rd Armor (PAARNG). who held a key position in Bayji, protecting the northern Iraq's major oil refinery. They were a great bunch of troopers that did an outstanding job trying to "herd cats" in 2004-2005. Sorry to go off topic. I also can't ewait for the future LMTV/MTV Armored Cab releases.
