very tongue in cheek but: we don't even know where the 1:1 counterparts are all the time, let alone their 1:72 brethren
Perhaps http://www.plasticsoldierreview.com can help you. Note that Somali people tend to be a lot darker skinwise than Chechens
Richard,
After posting this, I actually found some great models by Caesar Miniatures, called ‘Modern Militia: Somalia and Asian Militia’. For some reason, this hadn’t come up previously when I searched ‘modern pirates’, ‘terrorists’, ‘African Militia’, and even ‘Somalia Rebels’.
I’ll order these on Friday and combine them with my ex-Chechen pirates.
As for the appearance of the Chechens, I’m going to be painting these figures and it’s almost as easy to paint them with my Burnt Umber, Brown Earth, Rubber, and Tuscan Red wash ‘Black People Mix’, as it is to paint them with my ‘White People Mix’ of Flesh Tone, Ivory, Brown Earth, and very light Flat Black wash. Both Chechen Rebels and Somali Pirates are members of the ‘Religion of Peace’ (Ironic, isn’t it…) so would wear similar headdresses and both groups use Soviet weapons.
As for finding the pirates, THEY’RE IN SOMALIA if we destroy this base of operations we will kill the pirates.... A few B1B’s and some B61’s should do the trick…Actually, if we use B61’s, we won’t even have to worry about them coming back anytime soon…
