Any word on if Dragon will EVER release their set of the Peleliu Marines!!!!!

I just recently discovered this "set" and got excited when I saw a release for 4/12 as they would fit perfectly into a LVT dio I'm doing. Then I did a little more digging and saw that they were to be released a year ago?

So I'm looking for possible other options...I know Verlinden and Warriors make a bunch of kits but is there anything else? I'm looking for marines loaded down with beach assault gear for my dio depicting the landing on Saipan. I'd like to use some of the verlinden kits, but their gear kind of sucks. Are there any other kits where I can get better packs and gear? It also looks like most of the other DML and Masterbox kits show marines without much gear. From what I can tell the DML kits have no packs, but I really like their weapons...looks like I'm going be mixing and matching.

There are several of us waiting for this set to appear. Dragon seems so far behind on their releases after announcing them, but I still hope as I wait. Have the other 3 sets and this one will make the 4th set I need to do my 4 vign's for the S.Pacific. Good thing I'm not holding my breath. Have the old Airfix set but would like this more accurate time wise set, and the scale to match with the others. And if you're reading this Dragon, a few more sets of U.S.M.C. and some south Pacific army sets would go a very long way.

I wonder if we all contact Dragon maybee they will release this kit. I have been waiting for this kit also. I had ideas for dioramas using this kit. We can only hope they will take the hint and release some US figures.

Masterbox has just released some Marines with packs. They might be a good option, and, unlike the Dragon set, they are currently available. I expect Dragons Marines will arrive with their M3 Lee and M4 Jumbo.

According to a response from dragonusa, 6554 should be out in about 2 weeks. Though they also mentioned that almost all of the pre-order slots have been filled.

It's a nice looking kit, but the poses aren't anything new,and they could probably be put together from spares, the parts box, etc. You'll probably have to mix and match with the equipment anyway. Having said that,I still believe that the more Pacific-themed items out there, the better.

I will believe it when I see it at the LHS. It wil be too late for me, but I won't trust its existence until I see it.

Apparently, it's arrived. Could still be a false alarm, but why would the website lie?

Cookie Sewell posted a review at Cybermodeler. They must exist. Hopefully they will appear on store shelves soon.

get *them* ... whoops, typo in that response

Serious question though, the packs supplied with the kit...can anyone provide some light on why Dragon supplied what they did? They are certainly not the M1941 Haversack I expected. So I'm a little at a loss as what to do with em.
