Doing sort of a build of modern US tanks. The m-26/M-46. what was the difference between them? Is this a noticable difference (assuming there was a difference)? The second question is which came first, the M-60 or the M-48A5? I always thought that the A-5 was an upgrade program that came out in the 70's mainly to sell off all the old 48's we had laying around gathering dust as future targets for gunnery ranges

Hi blaster ...the main difference between the m-26 and m-46 is the engine deck is completly different .mufflers were rerouted to the side fenders ..Three square plates added to th rear plate to allow access to the transmission..The existing 90mm M3 gun was modified with a bore evacuator and new muzzle brake, and ..I think there was a new return rollers added between the last road wheel and the drive sproket ..
As for the question about the M-48a5 and M60 well I'll leave it up to the modern guys ..lol

Great info guys. Guess I'll have to add the M-46 to my collection. Glad to see DML has re-released it. It looks like y thoughts on the M-48-a5 were correct, it was an upgrade done after the intro of the M-60 and also the M-60a1, so I won't bother with that too similar to the M60 anyway
