Is this the first "live action" box art done with computer graphics and not based off someone's artwork?

I think its a combination of both. CG as in modelled in a CAD type program and then some added work by an artist/artists, probably using a graphics program combined with the CG renders.
It's not the first but certainly it seems the first time Dragon has commissioned artwork of figures done mostly in CG.
Still prefer Ron's (Volstad) work and style to be honest.
I think they are going to need to do some more work on the machine gun before release. Good news though.

I am really liking this one! There is really not very much in the way of Empire figures out there and this will be a welcome addition.

Good news indeed and a long overdue subject!
Wasn't MiniArt or someone else working a Vicker's gun and crew (in desert uniforms, IIRC) some while back? I seem to remember that they went back to the drawing board a couple of times trying to get the gun right, but then no news since then.
At any rate, a welcome subject. I hope the molding and production lives up to the gray-CAD drawings.

I believe it was Master Box.

I like it! Especially the way the officer is almost standing while he points with his stick, when his troops are sensibly under cover. And letting his helmet protect his hip rather than putting it on his head - they really captured the spirit of the day... I've gotta get these guys when they come out!

Oh boy, oh boy. Finally a set of B.E.F. that's going to be affordable in styrene. Now D.M.L.'s on the right track. Keep coming out with more early war allies and I'll drop as much cash as I can scrap up.

A while ago I needed a Vickers and they were only available in resin. Now they seem to be popping up everywhere in styrene. Murphy's law I guess.
Still looks like a good kit.
