Hi guys today I went in my favourite model shop and after long time I bought two kit:
the first it's the m51 super sherman israeli by accademy, and at the first look it' looks really nice!!
the second is a T34/85 by zvezda , cheaper and ...acceptable quality
in a future a lot far away I want to do a dio with this two tanks. One of these destroyed, probably the t34/85 because it's less nice. The dio will rappresent the war of the six days or yoman kippur...
If someone did these kit and have some suugest or trick .....or also some suggest for layout of the dio...

Hey Venom
Just a note, if you are going to make a dio representing the YK war.... the destroyed tank will have to be the T-34!
Cheers

In 1967, the main tank on the arabic side was the T54, no ?
I wonder if they still had many T34s left in front line service... the same question goes for 73 ! There were probably more T62s then...
Someone will certainly be able to give us good info !

the egyptians used t-34 in the 6 days war and also in the 1956 war. not sure about 1973 war because they had to cross the cannal and i think they had enough t-54/55/62 for it and did'nt really needed the t-34 then. i have some pictures of destroied or abandoned egyptian t-34's in books and i can try and scan them if u like. most of them though are from czechpslovakia and are a bit different than the russian version (turret, exhaust covers and other small details). as for a m-51... in 1967 it was used in the southern front against the egyptian and thus pretty likely to have met a t-34 and probably kick it's ass too. same goes for a t-54/55....
in 1973 it was used in the northern front against the syrians and i don't think they used t-34 in the golan heights. they did use su-100 though.... i'm not sure if m-51 were used in 1973 in the southern front as well. if u make a 1967 era m-51, u'll need to make some changes in the academy kit. nothing too big. i'm doing it myself.
hope i helped. #:-)

Hi Venom,
You can make you diorama a desert one or mountainous one . bo the the egyptians and the syrians used the T34'85 in 1967. the colour for the egyptians would be a very light sand , while the Syrian would be a russian green. while the t34 could definitely knock out a sherman as far as penetrating it's armour. Arab leadership above platoon level in 1967 left somthing to be desired. The first T34s were captured in the 1956 suez campaign but weer never put into active IDF service. When I was a kid we went to Israel just after the Six day war and there was a knocked out T34/85 on the newly liberated Golan. I remember it having the weird mount for the AA DShk MAchine gun.
