Hi guys,
Could any of you help me. I am planning on buying 3 or 4 AK Interactive weathering products for the AK Interactive Competition on Facebook. I am only 14 and do not own any AKI products, so I was wondering what are the essential 3 or 4 that I need to weather a Soviet vehicle (BMP-3?). I know I have just about no chance in winning but I recon its worth a shot.
Any help would be appreciated.
Euan

I recently finished a Russian WW2 tank, and primarily used the streaking grime, streaking rust, and the earth effect stuff. That should cover you. Depending on where you're doing it (Chechnya, parade, etc) you may want to look into the dust effects as well
Hope this helps!

Hi Euan,
I agree with Alex, you definitely want the streaking grime or dark streaking grime; rust streaks; earth effects or dust effects; I really like fuel stains; and maybe a pigment or two. AK products are very easy to use and very easy to get the effect they show you. You should be very pleased with these products, they are a great value and make getting professional looking results simple. Make sure you check out the blog, where all the products are demonstrated step by step. Have fun and good luck in the competition!

Thanks for the advice guys! I plan on ordering those four you suggested tonight.
P.S.
This may sound a stupid question but what blog has all the demos on it?
P.P.S.
Does anyone know how good the postage is from the AK site?
Thanks again
Euan

Euan,
I take it you are ordering from AK in Spain since it is the closest to you. The blog is listed in the black stripe just below the new products header. If you still don't see it, here's the URL - http://www.ak-interactive.blogspot.com/
The postage from Spain to Scotland I can't say, you can email AK and ask how much postage will be on 4 bottles to your address and I'm sure they will answer you.

Im brand new to weathering, and working on a M4 now. I tend to just build WWII tanks (got a Panzer and Jagdtiger to do next). I would really like to weather my M4, and wondering how these AKI products are? They seem pretty easy to use and all, as I was looking at the metal and mud set, along with the engine one. Im pretty much making this tank my test, as its the second tank ive put a resin kit in, so would like to do something else new to make it look good. Any suggestions would be great.

Joshua,
I'd give you pretty much the same advice I gave Euan. The two sets you mention will get you off to a great start, and make sure to get a bottle of streaking grime. Read the AK blog to see how to use them, and spend an afternoon trying them on an old model until you get the hang of it. Then do it up on your current build. AK products are really easy to get the hang of.

Euan,
Sorry so late to reply. I would say that for a soviet build, I would say that the AK-064 "Weathering Set For Dark Green Vehicles" would be a great place to start. This set features 3 effects: AK-045 Wash Dark Brown for Green Vehicles, AK-046 "Light Rust Wash, & AK-024 " Dark Streaking Grime for Dark Vehicles". These three components will enable you to create washes, & streaking effects that will show up well against 4B0 Green. Another usefull effect for this subject would be AK-015 "Dust Effects" as this is light grey color that will enable you to create dust effects and rain marks against a darker green base color.
As for shipping to any area of the world, please visit the "DEALER" section of either the ES -or- USA site and you will find a list of hobby shops and retailers nearest you. You can also order directly from AK Interactive's Europe or North America site as both ship local and international orders. As Mr. Thoms has pointed out, you may need to poke around a wee bit to find the most economical shipping option based on proximity.
