Hi,
Some of you may be aware that I am painting seven 1/35th scale resin USMC figures at Khe Sanh, Vietnam during Tet '68.
I have completed the painting of one figure & I would like to add some decals to it.
These decals are from Mec Models, Archer & Hudson & Allen(?)
Could you advise me on how to go about attaching these decals, please?
I am a real novice at this so a step by step guide will help greatly!
I did hear about applying a gloss varnish to the figure, then apply the decals, then gloss it again & then a coat of matt.
Am I correct in this?
Are there other ways?
Thanks.
Joe.

You got it right,
Gloss
Micro set-blue bottle
Decal
Micro sol red bottle
Flat
However,if it's only a couple of decals, say the shoulder boards, then you don't have to gloss the whole figure, just the small area where you apply the decals.
The micro sol really gets the decal to conform and snug down well.

Hi Anthony,
Thanks for your reply. I've managed to buy both these products & I'm eagerly awaiting their arrival!
However, I do have Mr Mark Softer & Mr Mark Setter both by Mr Hobby here at home. Are these the same type of products?
Joe.

Okay, I've glossed the figure & placed the decals using the above mentioned products.
There appears to be a white residue left around the location of the decal (although not interfering with it). When I rub over this residue with a damp brush it disappears but comes back again when dry. Any ideas?
How long should I leave the decal on for before I re-gloss the area?
Thanks again.
Joe.

Hey Joe,
It's been a while since I seen any of your posts. How did all of the trucks turn our? Looking foward to seeing pictures of your figures.

Hi Tom,
Great to hear from you again, my friend!
The trucks aren't finished yet, I'm afraid!
Since we last spoke my family & me have moved home out into an olde worlde cottage in the lovely English countryside away from the hustle & bustle of good old London town! Best move I've ever made, let me tell you!
I have all the trucks & figures built for the dio but it all needs to be painted.
I got bored with that so now I'm in the process of knocking together the new Bronco M114A1 155mm Howitzer (built, not painted) & seven USMC figures to go with it (all built, in the process of painting).
I'm going to take a few photos of the figures & post them on here so keep a lookout for them!
Anyway, talk soon & dont leave it too long next time!

Joe,
I made the move from the city back to the country 9 years ago. I love it out here. My progress on all of my model projects have been slow. Not bored with it but alot of other stuff has happen. Well look foward to your pictures.
