Anyone know if there are individual track links available for the ancient Tamiya Hunting Tiger (35058)? The Tamiya King Tiger links set (35165) specifically says it is not compatible with the old King Tiger and Hunting Tiger.
Will the DML 3810 66cm track work? It was designed for the King Tiger, Hunting Tiger and Panther II. BTW, what exactly is a Panther II?

Rob--a Panther II is an attempt by a greedy model company to ripe off people. Don't fall for it.

Hi Sabot, Don't waste money on that old Tamiya Jagdtiger, they are using the old Tamiya King Tiger base, and which is shorter than it suppose to be. The Jagdtiger's chasis is longer than the Konigtiger. So, it's better off to get yourself the DML Jagdtiger.

Ummm, thanks guys. I have the old kit from pre-DML/new Tamiya days and figured since it was started, I might as well finish it (if it was unbuilt, I'd sell it on eBay). The rubber band tracks look bad and I want to replace them. The sag, or lack thereof, would be noticeable on a King Tiger chassis. The Tamiya tracks come with a warning not to use them, so I'm looking at other options. No desire to buy another kit or spend big bucks to finish up this kit. I just thought it would be an impressive sized vehicle when completed.
I was just curious about a Panther II, hadn't seen a kit of it before. I was wondering what made it a "II" from the garden variety Panther.

Major,
Tell you what, I will trade you a set of DML Jagdtiger Henschel links for let's say two decent resin figures in 1/35.
I prefer WWII German or Russian figures.
I rarely use the kit tracks anyways, and you can have a set of tracks for your model.
As far as the Panther II, well, if the war had not ended, this would have been the next generation Panther. The idea was to start using common components for a Panther and a King Tiger tank. The tank of course never got past the prototyping stage and never saw any combat.
The example from Ft. Know is actually, a Panther II chassis with a Panther G model turret. There are examples of the so called "Schmallturm" in various museums.
Let me know what you think about the trade.
Tim

Thanks for the offer, but since I don't have any resin figures, let alone WW2 Germans or Russians, I come up empty there. If the tracks are the DML #3810 66cm transport track, and if they will do the job, I can get them at the local shop for about $7. That looked to be a better deal than the Tamiya ones for $20 that are specifically labeled as not compatible.
