What is the difference between Tamiya Primer (the one that comes in the spray can) over a regular Tamiya paint that I would use in my airbrush?
Is there an advantage to using Tamiya Primer over plain old Tamiya light grey shot through my airbrush?
My main focus is on figures, but would there be a difference on armor/aircraft as well?

Primer is meant to be a base coat to enable the surface of the model to receive the actual paint. In other words, it helps the paint to adhere well to the surface.

Actually, there is hardly any difference. Rather than spend extra on a primer, white or gray will do the trick.

Tamiyas spray primer is synthetic lacquer while the small bottles are Acrylic. This may make a difference to you in your application.
