I just came across a new set of Evolution Miniatures Humvee crew figures on HobbyEasy:
The gunner looks very good and will hopefully fit in any of the available kits without too much difficulty. I assume the second figure is standing outside of the vehicle using the handset from the radio inside the Humvee. Keep em' coming Evolution!

They look like the matching pair to this set, announced a few months ago here.
They do look pretty nice.

Good find Rob. I don't think these were officially introduced yet on any figure related sites...
Yup, the figures are indeed a second set of US Marines Humvee crew. I will post more info soon, but I guess the picture says it all, eh?
I hope we'll see reviews of new Evolution modern figures soon.

Very nice indeed! Of the available humvee kits, which would apply to the timeframe of these figures. Also, were flight suits issued to regular marines or is the one individual SF?

For the HMMWVs from this timeframe, check this thread.
That is not a flight suit, but a NOMEX fire resistant suit worn by Combat Vehicle Crewmen (CVC). It is really out of place for the '03-'05 timeframe. CVCs weren't commonly seen until about '07.

I'm pretty sure there's photos of marines in one of the Concord OIF books wearing the coveralls, though I agree, they generally seem to have come into use around the same time as the Spartan vest.

Not out of the box. It looks like they are supposed to be USMC MARPAT digital camo uniforms which have pockets on the upper sleeves. You would need to shave these pockets off to change the uniforms from MARPAT to DCU/BDU pattern.
However, they are incorrect for MARPAT as well since MARPAT also has lower calf pockets on the outside of each leg, which these don't look like they have.
You can see the calf pockets here.

Hmm...Earlier versions of MARPAT didn't have the calf pockets - check Marines on the Ground OIF 2 (Concord) pp 16, 24 for some good shots of both legs (2004 opening salvos of Al Fajr)
Pg 30 shows 24 MEU engineers Jan 30 '05 wearing nomex coveralls, so it's not inconceivable they were worn late 04, early 05, possibly in Fallujah. Granted, it's hard to tell from the photos, due to drop leg rigs and things, but i THINK the pockets are the same as the ones on the figure above...

I thought the MARPAT always had the calf pockets. They were added at the same time as the upper arm pockets. Maybe not.
As to the NOMEX, they are not a coverall, but a uniform in themselves. They have been around since the '70s, but were not commonly worn by non-Combat Vehicle Crewmen before about '07. I would personally use him as a tanker, swap out the head for one with the CVC helmet and you would be set.

Marpat trausers with calf pocket are part of FROG (Flame Resistant Organizational Gear) system .Regular trausers have no calf pocket . First units received new gear at the end of 2006 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flame_Resistant_Organizational_Gear
