What do you want from such an app feature-wise? For what type of Android device?
And to the Forum-Operators: Is there an interface (REST/SOAP) to pull certain elements?

On tablets a normal browser works resonably well in my experience. Tablets with stylus work better since the forum is "mouse-optimized" but my bet is a "Tablet-CSS" could fix that.

It's something I have thought about too, however, there is an interesting angle to this that has received a fair bit of publicity this week in the aftermath of the Facebook stock flotation: specialised apps for accessing web sites via mobile phones can have a detrimental effect on advertising revenue, and of course running sites like this one costs money. I do regularly access this site via a 4 inch Android phone and personally I find it OK for browsing and posting messages, though I haven't tried uploading photos using the phone. The one thing I have thought would be an improvement relates to the Java photo pop up used on features - would be nice if on a mobile device it filled the screen.

This site is using phpBB as far as I can see. That has (again after a short check) no Webservice interface. One can write php Add-ons that expose functionality but that is server side programming.
Without that a mobile client will be hard work. So may be using browser detection and a "finger friendly"(1) CSS/board style are a better way to go.
(1)Real tablets actually work fine but real tablets only have one finger print a few reddish-brown spots on them not more prints than a CSI show
